Amazon’s handheld reader, the Kindle, is now in its 3rd generation. Over the last few years, they have improved the handsets as well as the features that the offer. We shall take a look at some of the cool things that you can do with your Kindle reader.
The two things that we are going to talk about today are both basic options but if you are not already using them, you might be interested to find out more. The two features that we are going to look at just now are:
- the built in dictionary
- altering the screen alignment
Kindle Built in Dictionary
This is really easy to use. While you are reading a text, when you come across a word that you would like to get a definition for, all that you need to do is bring the cursor onto the screen and move it to the start of the word that interests you. What then happens is that short, two line, definition will show up at either the top or bottom of the screen. To get on with your reading you simply have to press the Back button once. The whole procedure just takes a matter of seconds. This is what makes it so impressive, the speed at which you can look up words.
Kindle Screen Alignment
Changing the alignment of your Kindle screen is also pretty simple. The first thing that you have to do is push the AA button once. What happens is that you then get a pop up menu where you can choose how you want to align your screen. You can use your Kindle vertically or horizontally. For certain document types, the horizontal style might be better. For instance, PDFs are easier to read when you align your Kindle side ways.
These are features that are available to users right now. Even though the new Kindle 4 is sure to offer some really exciting new tools, there is still plenty that can be down with the 3rd generation model.
